I've been watching your ruses for sometime Seeking my dose of satisfaction Desires, burning through my aching bones like A strange fever that refuses to leave One step into the unknown Peel off the skin that's guarding your mind, let all be shown This endeavour will show you a strange new world And I, cannot wait Scratching at the surface to find yourself The words you say make no sense to me Tell me all your secrets and you'll be fine Without these layers, you leave behind Feeling of the distance rising From my world colliding into me Seeking calm amidst the chaos That is slowly shaping into me Dark clouds are rising Casting a shadow of doubt On your very being You withdraw into a shell But deep rooted hatred Is turning into into something new Taking pieces of your soul Back to the dark I've been watching your ruses for sometime Seeking my dose of satisfaction Desires, burning through my aching bones like A strange fever that refuses to leave

Waste away another night Everything I had to do I can do tomorrow Awake in a dream-like state with eyes open This mess has slowly become part of me I'll wait right here Watching all these walls closing in Knowing, too well, my scars are open and bleeding out Distort reason to the end of your twisted desire Seeking all that's left to be stripped of misery Awake in a dream-like state with eyes open This mess has slowly become part of me I'll wait right here Watching all these walls closing in Knowing, too well, my scars are open and bleeding out Wasting away, wasting away

I am walking past All my opinions turned into A matter of no consequence And now I wear their borrowed Thoughts, and try to make amends But to no avail Stare at the mirror, to find A person you don't recognize Mind can you see the end of the strife You're reduced to nothingness and they alter your thoughts again See beyond what you've been shown Through the deceit See beyond what you've been shown And you know There's no place for your mind Can you see the end of the strife You're reduced to nothingness and they alter your thoughts again

Truth is coming back here again Deep stories unfold There's the light showing again Long awaited moment has come Isn't this the path, you were looking to follow Isn't this the path, you were looking to follow Have you discovered what you're like Dawn of truth Is nothing like you dreamt It's causing you all this discomfort Secrets confined Reveal their very roots Tangled in a web of your will Shut it down shut it down This light is paralyzing It’s blinding me till lies are all I see I read the signs That are emphasizing Redundance of my search and I Feel wasted And the treacherous path of pursuit That you've been savouring It suddenly displays a different side Of possibilities Dawn of truth Is nothing like you dreamt It's causing you all this discomfort Secrets confined Reveal their very roots Tangled in a web of your will

People they continue to baffle me It feels like we're back to where we started this Learning to Paralyze the pain Living in distorted frames Repair the loss selfishly again If I could show guilt inside me frozen now Voices they hold me captive eternally Both my hands are tied behind my back To set me free I'm tired of facing choices all the time Every pretty word can you really tell If it's me Is this how I'm feeling all the time (Stay within) Stay within what feels good. Paralyze the pain living in distorted frames Repair the loss selfishly again Paralyze the pain Living in distorted frames The voice of empathy has been evading me I know I'll seek it out I have participated in the crime I'm responsible for All that is wrong inside of my mind Rethink your facts

Leave me Leave me to my end Tethered, attached to what I fear See you in the hell that I've created Darkness continues to confine me This denial's got no reasoning It's left me wanting more Of what there is none I've feared so long Feel my will breaking in parts Scatter slowly Over what you dread Scatter slowly Convince yourself Scatter slowly Over what you dread Scatter slowly Convince yourself There is no place left for me It sets you free from what you become Give in to your every need It sets you free from what you become There is no place left for me It sets you free from what you become Give in to your every need It sets you free from what you become This denial's got no reasoning It's left me wanting more Of what there is none I've feared so long Feel my will breaking in parts

Sun comes out It's clear now My dreams are coming Back to me Light seeps in On my skin My feet are aching To feel the ground Aching feet Feel the ground Clear day Empty bed Ticklish feet Numb legs Everyone knows Transparent skin With me Wandering out Wandering out Doubts are leaving me I am ready now Doubts are leaving me I am ready now What is this place What is this place Feeling happy Wandering

about

Protocol's debut concept album is a journey of self-introspection. It expresses a lot more than just a thirst for answers - there are themes of superficiality, validation, procrastination, escapism, and, eventually, acceptance. Alternative writing styles and unique arrangement structures illuminate these motifs. Haunting questions are complemented by massive guitar sections; fears and doubts are juxtaposed with courage-invoking rhythms; soulful melodies follow furious riffs; and complex time signatures are given respite with meaningful solos.
The building tension throughout the album culminates into an aptly overwhelming, yet, tranquil resolve - which also gives the listener a glimpse into the evolving sonic palette of the band.
Friar’s Lantern is an elusive light - one that lures, but leads nowhere.
